Structural Geology Algorithms

Nestor Cardozo, Don Fisher, and I wrote Structural Geology Algorithms: Vectors and Tensors because of our conviction that, to do modern structural geology, students need to be introduced to the powerful linear algebra techniques that underly our science. We view this book as a combination of 21st Century lab manual for structural geology, a Structural Geology "Numerical Recipes", and a basic reference on linear algebra techniques in a structure context.

Reviews

“I highly recommend this book to all structural geology students and practitioners, as well as to earth scientists from a wide range of fields, who will benefit from this clear introduction of the principles and application of linear algebra in the analysis of commonly encountered vector and tensor quantities.”

Roland Bürgmann's review in Mathematical Geoscience

“I like this book. The material covered, the level of detail and the inclusion of MATLAB scripts make this a timely, relevant and very useful textbook.”

— Dave Healy's review in Geological Magazine
